Council of Representatives meeting 3.12.
LYY’s Council of Representatives will have a meeting on 3.12., starting at 15:00. Members of LYY can participate via Microsoft Teams. There are many important decisions on the agenda: naming LYY’s new Executive Board, Chair of the Council of Representatives and a substitute for our Secretary General.

Important documents approved
In the last meeting of the Council of Representatives many important documents were approved. These included LYY’s Action Plan, Policy Paper related to Student Politics, Equality Plan and economic documents.
Unfortunately these documents are only available in Finnish.
Independence day candle event
Light a candle to celebrate Finland’s Independence 6.12.!
LYY is organizing an Independence Day candle event – by participating you can get yourself LYY’s 6.12 -overall badge.
This year, LYY will participate in the celebration of Independence Day by lighting two candles in the window according to tradition. The corona-safe tradition dates back to 1927 at the latest and celebrates Finland’s independence and commemorates those who took part in the wars. You can take part in the event by lighting two candles in your window on Independence Day. If you don’t have candles yet, don’t worry, LYY will give out a limited number of them at the F-wing service point on Friday 4.12., starting at noon.
- LYY members that take part in the event can also get a free overall badge:
Post a picture of your candles on Instagram and tag @lyygram or send us a picture as a private message. The first 100 will get a free overall badge. - Come get your badge from LYY’s office at an agreed time!

AMBASSADORS WANTED! DL 15.12.2020
Become an ambassador in a top team to inspire students for internationalisation!
Are you interested to improve interaction with international and local students and to gain internationalisation competences yourself?
This is a great opportunity to network and gain international working life skills. You will also receive Open Badge and LinkedIn recommendations.

They are looking for 8-10 My Global Story ambassadors for February-July 2021. Training in January.
The tasks include:
- to coordinate internationalisation social media accounts
- inspire student for internationalisation and to share their experiences
- to plan and organise relaxed internationalisation events

Unifi theses on sustainable development and responsibility
Carbon neutrality by 2030, sustainable development at the heart of strategies, and strong support for the Finnish Government’s climate and biodiversity goals. All of the above is included in the plans of Finnish universities through mutual theses on sustainable development and responsibility, which have been published today.
The thesis package contains extensive recommendations for measures to be taken in teaching, research, administration, societal impact and funding model of universities.
