Statement on equality in the University of Lapland
LYY insists a discussion from the university’s administration on equality
The Student Union of the University of Lapland states that the administration of the University of Lapland needs to have a thorough conversation about the university’s state on equality and the students’ place in decision-making.
LYY has been actively following the current news on the case about the recruitment of the vice-rector of research. The Student Union does not take a side on this one individual case but highlights the necessity of respectful conversation and the transparency of the decision-making process in a public education institution.
Read the whole statement on LYY’s website.
LYY Responsibility Week
LYY Responsibility Week, a theme week about development cooperation and environmental affairs launches on week 43!
Responsibility means taking into account the economic, social and ecological effects of one’s own activities. Responsibility often refers to the activities of companies or organizations, for example, but also to individual consumers. As a student, you can make responsible choices and decisions in your daily life, and we want to highlight them during the LYY Responsibility Week.
LYY Responsibility Week is organized responsibly (pun intended) according to the prevailing situation mainly on social media and remotely.
Find out more in the Responsibility week Facebook event.

Our university has given a recommendation of using masks at our facilities. University students and staff can make themselves a free mask on Wednesday 21.10, 11-17:00, Art and Design Faculty entrance. We also welcome you to participate in the user survey at the workshop point! This all takes about 15 minutes of your time.
In the workshop, all supplies will be disinfected between participants. The fabrics of the masks are pre-cut and ironed. Attached an image of the invitation. The workshop is part of the Smart Social Distancing project funded by Business Finland.
