The new Council of Representatives of the Student Union of the University of Lapland met for the first time today, 1st of December. The council hired the Secretary General and elected the chair and vice chairs. The budget and action plan for the coming year were also confirmed. The Council of Representatives elected Pekka Nikumatti as the chair of the Council. Susan Seppälä is the 1st vice chair and Jesse Häyhä is the 2nd vice chair.
“Thanks to the Council of Representatives for their trust. I want to represent the entire university and all members of the student union as the chair, ”Nikumatti commented.
The Council also decided to hire Miikka Keränen as the new Secretary General of the Student Union. Keränen has served as Deputy Secretary General for the past year and has been involved in the activities of the Student Union for several years.
“The past year has taught a lot and been meaningful, and it’s wonderful to get on with our projects,” says Keränen.
The Council continued its meeting the following day. Krista Perälä was elected as the Chair of the Executive Board for the next year. The following persons were elected as members of the board: Miila Lumijärvi, Viljo Vuorimäki, Evilla Lumme, Elias Id and Eetu Ahvensalmi.
“It’s wonderful to be able to continue on the board. I am convinced that the new board is looking forward to making the most out of next year, ”says the new chair.
