Student Union’s opening hours
Student Union doesn’t have customer service times anymore until next year. Until then, the meeting times can be agreed beforehand! So call or e-mail us, if needed.
Next year LYY is opening its’ customer service point on 21st of January. We are open almost every Tuesday and Thursday till 24.4. at 12pm-2pm.

LYY’s new leadership for the Council of Representatives
New leadership of the Council of Representatives has been elected at the Student Union of the University of Lapland’s (LYY’s) Council of Representatives meeting on Tuesday 3.12.2019. Miikka Keränen was elected for Chair of the Council of Representatives and Anni-Sofia Sihvo (Neliapila/Center party list) was elected to be the Council of Representatives first vice-chairperson and Emilia Haapalainen (Artikla/Law student’s associations list) as the second vice-chairperson.

LYY’s new board for 2020
New chair of the board and board for 2020 has been elected at the Student Union of the University of Lapland’s (LYY’s) Council of Representatives meeting on Tuesday 3.12.2019. Esa-Pekka Tuppi was elected for chair of the board 2020 and there were also five members to be elected in the LYY’s board: Veera Saarikivi (Faculty of Arts), Ella Oittila (Faculty of Social Sciences) , Niko Haataja (Faculty of Educational sciences), Miiko Ketonen and Sofia Kauriinoja (Both faculty of Law). So all four of University of Lapland’s faculties will be represented in the board!
The board starts on January 2020.

Rector’s pendant change ceremony 13.12.
Rector’s pedant change ceremony will be held on Friday 13.12. at Fellman hall at 1pm-2pm. Everyone’s welcome to join the ceremony, and you can sign up to the event from here.
Mauri Ylä-Kotola has been working as the University of Lapland’s rector since 2006. Now Antti Syväjärvi is taking his place and will start working officially in January 2020.
LYY’s Christmas party 13.12.
The Student Union of the University of Lapland, LYY, is organizing Christmas party (in Finnish “Pikkujoulut”, as in “Little Christmas”) at Half Moon! Now you have an opportunity to listen something else than Christmas carols and rave the songs out of your head! You can also choose a non-Christmas-song you’d like to sing at the Karaoke side of Half Moon. The event is on Friday 13.12. at Half Moon and starts at 22à
TICKET SELLING
If you buy the ticket beforehand, it costs 3€. The ticket is also 3€ from the door. BUT if you buy the ticket during pre-selling times, you’ll get an amazing christmas hat overall padge for free!

In this party, ESN Lapland will have it’s own table where you have a chance to leave your signature to our flag!
Did you pack your luggage already? Or sent all your party clothes back home? NOT an excuse! For this party, you only need to wear a white t-shirt.

Register yourself for the Spring semester 2.12.-16.1.
All students of the University of Lapland are required to register as an attending student (“present”) or a non-attending student (“absent”) in the OILI Service separately for each academic year. Please note that in order to be eligible for signing up for courses, earning credits and receiving a scholarship you are required to be registered as attending. Registration status as attending is also a prerequisite for accessing the university information systems. Your User ID will work only if your registration for the current academic year has been completed.
The registration period for the spring term 2020 is 2 December 2019 – 16 January 2020.

You can register to LYY’s websites your own event! Adding your event to our website is really easy and fast and at the same time everybody else can also see your event straight on LYY’s website! When you register your event, remember that they have to be open to everyone – unless you want loads of gatecrashers.

Rent LYY’s Sauna for your parties
Student Union’s Sauna is available for renting during the summertime. If you are a member of the Student Union of the University of Lapland, the renting costs you 100 euros / night. For non-members the price from Sunday to Thursday is 150 euros / night and from Friday to Saturday 200 euros / night. Booking happens via email to edunvalvonta(at)lyy.fi or by phone +358 45 138 4190.
