The Board of 2025
LYY’s new board was formed on 7.1.2025. The roles within the board are as follows:
Mariel Tähtivaara – Chair of the Board
Alexandra Aho – Vice Chair, Student Advocacy Representative
Gabriel Fiskarholm – Tutoring and Internationality Representative
Juuso Kurokallio – Treasurer
Eetu Markkanen – Communication Representative
Sanna Sulin – Event Representative
Tuomo Talala – Social Relations Representative
Advocacy
LYY and ROTKO met at the ROTKO office to discuss the upcoming municipal and regional elections, as well as cooperation for the spring. The advance voting period for the municipal and regional elections in Finland is 2.-8.4.2025, and the official election day is 13.4.2025.
LYY also met with Ari Konu (Director of University Administration), Manu Pajuluoma (Director of Information and Digital Services), and Merija Timonen (Service Director). The meeting covered various current topics relevant to students. LYY will continue its close collaboration with the university throughout the year!
Events
The Korttelikekkerit event was successfully held on Wednesday, 22.1.2025, with an amazing 77 participants – thank you for attending! A big thank you also to all the organizations that hosted checkpoints with us!
On January 29, 2025, LYY organized a training day for student organizations called “Riemupiirakka”. Specialists provided sector-specific training sessions for student organization representatives. The day concluded with a networking and team-building event.
Other Matters
The LYY board held a retreat in Enontekiö over the weekend. During the retreat, the board prepared for the year ahead, including drafting a new board program.
