Advocacy
- LYY published a joint statement with ROTKO titled “Homes for Students – Alongside Sustainable Tourism.” The student unions stress the importance of tourism to Rovaniemi, while reminding everyone that students cannot be forgotten – especially amidst a housing shortage!
- The Responsibility Sector has given feedback on the university’s draft for its sustainability and responsibility program.
Events
- The interdisciplinary election night with Kosmos Buran was held on 13.4. at Pub Punapippuri.
- The Spring Flea Market took place on 15.4. in the university’s main lobby. Thank you to all vendors and participants!
- The Badge Market was organized on 16.4. in the university’s main lobby.
- The Grand Sitsit was also held on 16.4. in the main lobby. Thank you to everyone who joined!
- Wappu Kickoff was celebrated on 16.4. at Nightclub Doris.
- The traditional El Classico football match was held on 23.4. at Keskuskenttä. This year, the University team claimed victory with a 3–5 win after a thrilling match. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who took part in the event!
Other Matters
- LYYtiset has been airing on Radio Säteily throughout April – one more episode is coming on Tuesday 29.4. at 14:00! This time, Eetu is joined by student organization board members, so tune in!
Please note that the broadcast is in Finnish. - Election campaigning has come to a close and the results of the county and regional elections are in. The national voter turnout for the municipal elections was 51.7%, and in Lapland 49.8%. For the county elections, the national turnout was 54.3% and 50.5% in Rovaniemi. LYY encourages students to continue voting in future elections – casting your vote is a concrete way to influence the direction of our shared everyday life.

- On 11.4., the board met with Antti Määttä, the acting Mayor and Director of Human Resources and Administration for the City of Rovaniemi, at the LYY office. The board discussed student housing, internship opportunities, and ways to support new students in adapting to life in Rovaniemi.
