The role of a Community Specialist is still broad and interesting, but you can focus on things in a more controlled manner.”
LYY’s Service and Administration Assistant has also moved to an specialist’s position as a result of the expansion of the job description. Service and Administration Specialist Joel Liukkonen has taken over Wellness Pass’ administration, after the departure of Welfare Specialist Saana Törmänen. “With the expansion of my assignment, you can now also meet me in new contexts in LYY’s operations. It is really exciting to continue working at LYY and take on new challenges. Managing the Wellness Pass and its development has been extremely rewarding, and it’s really great that it enables every student to have access to affordable well-being services. Expanding the job description offers interesting opportunities, and I look forward to what the future will bring.” Joel tells.
New employees introduce themselves

Santeri Kinnunen
Bachelor of Arts Santeri Kinnunen has been hired for the position of Communications Specialist. Santeri is a second-year master’s student at the University of Lapland, in the Graphic design program.
“I have started in my new job with great enthusiasm . The field of communications is fairly new field for me in itself, and with my background as a Visual designer, I strive to bring LYY a new approach to the field of visual communications. In addition to studies, it is pleasant to work where you can develop yourself in several areas. In addition, I feel that my work is meaningful, because LYY promotes the well-being of students and offers advocacy with various services.” Santeri comments.
Santeri’s duties include developing and operating LYY’s communications, as well as visual design duties. The layout of the Student Magazine and the visual appearance of student events is also his handiwork.
The tasks in Graphic design have taken up the most of my time lately. In addition to me, communications are handled by many others here at the office, so you don’t have to handle everything alone.” Santeri adds.
A new employee, Pauliina Pitkänen, has also been hired for the Office Assistant’s job. Pauliina is a first-year student from the Fashion, Textile Art and Material Research degree program.
“I started my studies at the University of Lapland this fall and I immediately decided to go find out what kind of organizational activities the university has. I have previously been part of association activities and I liked it a lot. When I noticed that LYY’s Office assistant job was vacant, I was immediately interested in applying for the position.” Pauliina tells.
Pauliina is a new resident in Rovaniemi and a fresher at the University of Lapland. Despite her background in association activities, the student union is a new acquaintance for her:
“The activities of the Student Union are not familiar to me, but I joined in also to learn more about it. I am very much looking forward to the coming winter and working at LYY.”
