Student representatives in administration are appointed by the student union to serve on various university bodies. They represent not only themselves but the entire student union. Any student at the university can apply to become a student representative through an open application process. These representatives are full members of their respective bodies and influence the future of studying and research at the university. Commitment for the entire term is expected from student representatives.
Applications for student representatives in the administration of the University of Lapland for the year 2025 are submitted via this form. The application period begins on September 30, 2025, at 12:00 and ends on October 14, 2025, at 23:59. Selections will be made during the autumn by the representative council based on the recommendation of the selection committee. Late applications will not be considered!
NOTE! Currently, the working language of the administration is Finnish.
The selection committee has prepared a scoring system for evaluating applications. You can view the scoring criteria [here].
The term for the student representatives selected this autumn begins on January 1, 2026. The positions currently open for application are:

It also approves the financial statements and annual report, exercising the highest decision-making power at the university. It consists of 24 members with personal deputies: 8 professors, 8 other staff (teachers, researchers, and other personnel), and 8 students. The collegium meets at least once per semester, and an annual joint meeting with the university board is held.

Faculty Councils:
Each faculty (Education, Law, Arts, and Social Sciences) has a faculty council consisting of 9–12 members and an equal number of deputies. Faculty councils include professors, other staff, and students. They oversee strategic planning, propose budgets, and make recommendations to the university board regarding student intake for disciplines.
The term for student members is one year: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.
Each faculty council is seeking 6 student members: 3 full members and 3 deputies.
