March recap
In March, LYY focused especially on recruitment and advocacy. The tutoring development project is now in full swing and the tutor search is almost over. However, you can still apply to be a a tutor for certain subjects, or as an international tutor! At the end of March, we also received excellent advocacy news: LUC has decided to hire a study psychologist!
Information from the University
Rector Antti Syväjärvi’s morning coffee event for university staff and students will be held online on Thursday 22.4. At the event, current issues of the university will be discussed freely. Staff and students can send questions in advance by Monday 19.4. until 3 p.m.
Now students also have the opportunity to participate in the university’s environmental work by answering the consumption parameter. The results of the survey help to monitor the progress of our university’s environmental work and can also be used to target future measures to develop a more environmentally friendly campus. So your answer is important!
April greetings
Advocacy
LYY’s long-term advocacy goal of getting a study psychologist at the University of Lapland is one step closer when the management of the Lapland University Group decided to start recruiting a study psychologist for the Group’s welfare services. Hopefully the recruiting round will go well and we will soon get further confirmation of the students’ well-being work! Especially now investments in well-being are extremely important.

The Executive Board
We have worked on many fronts to improve the well-being of students. The board has worked on tutoring and for many faculties, the recruitment is almost at the finish line. We have been able to meet remotely the boards of all subject organizations.

The Council of Representatives
The Council of Representatives met on March 24th to decide, among other things, on the recruitment of the editor-in-chief of Student Magazine and the grants to be distributed to organizations. Until 31 December 2021, Inka Komonen and Lotta Lautala were elected editors-in-chief of Student Magazine. Warm congratulations to both of them! On behalf of the entire Council, I would also like to thank all those who responded to the Lapin Ylioppilaslehti survey! A product prize has been drawn between those who participated in the survey and those who left their contact information, and the winner has been personally notified of the win.
