The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Lapland (LYY) has elected its new Chair and Vice-chairs and the Student Union’s Executive Board for 2026 at its meeting on 1 December 2025.
Miikka Keränen from the TAO list has been elected Chair of the Representative Council. Keränen studies clothing design and previously served in LYY’s Representative Council in 2021 as Chair. Ella Siltanen from Rollo Viva was elected as the 1st Vice Chair, and Roope Mäkinen from the Artiklа list as the 2nd Vice Chair.
Inari Turkia has been elected Chair of LYY’s Executive Board. Turkia is a Master’s student in Arctic Global Politics and has extensive experience in student organization activities, including serving as Chair of her subject association, Kosmos Buran, during the current year.
The Representative Council also elected the members of LYY’s Executive Board for 2026. The following members were chosen:
- Henriikka Aho, Faculty of Arts (Applied Arts)
- Jasmin Kaarnivuo, Faculty of Arts (Art Education)
- Timo Korkiakoski, Faculty of Social Sciences (Political Science and Sociology)
- Eetu Markkanen, Faculty of Social Sciences (Tourism Research)
- Eeda Mykkänen, Faculty of Education (Special Education)
- Niklas Näsälä, Faculty of Social Sciences (Management and Administrative Sciences)
