The highest decision-making power in the Student Union of the University of Lapland (LYY) is exercised by the Council of Representatives. The Council of Representatives is elected by the members of the Student Union by proportional election. The term of office of the current Council of Representatives expires on 30 November 2025 and the new Council of Representatives will begin its two-year term on 1 December 2025. The Council of Representatives consists of twenty (20) members. The Representative Council Election is held electronically.

The election day is on Thursday 6 of November 2025

Advance voting takes place on 3November to 5November.

The voting opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM on election day as well as on advance voting days.

The voting will take place in the Vakka-software, and registration is carried out using the IDs of the students at the University of Lapland.

Voting begins on 3 November at 8:00 AM and ends on 6 November at 6:00 PM.

Only members of the Student Union who have registered to attend the University of Lapland no later than 15 September 2025 have the right to vote in the Representative Council elections. The electoral register of those entitled to vote are available for inspection upon request for 22 to 24 September 2025 at the Office of the Student Union, Ahkiomaantie 23 B, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Any requests for correction of the electoral register must be made to the Central Election Committee by 3 PM on 2 October 2025. Requests for corrections to the electoral register must be submitted to the Office of the Student Union, to the Secretary General.

Everyone entitled to vote is eligible to stand as a candidate. The documents used in the election are available from the Student Union’s office, Ahkiomaantie 23 B and from the Student Union’s website, at http://www.lyy.fi/lyy/asiakirjat/muut/. Electoral associations or electoral alliances must submit their election documents to the Central Election Committee in a sealed envelope at the Student Union’s office to the Secretary General, Service and Administration Specialist, Specialist in Students Affairs, Communications Specialist, or Project employee at Ahkiomaantie 23 B, no later than 7 October 2025 at 15 PM.
