MEP candidates will participate in a panel discussion focusing on the European Union as an actor in sustainable development. How can the EU more strongly and consistently promote its own values in its external relations?
The “Europe is Your Home” tour will arrive in Rovaniemi on May 20, 2024, featuring a panel discussion with MEP candidates including Viivi Järvelä (Social Democrats), Unna Eteläinen (Green Party), Marika Visakorpi-Kemppainen (Christian Democrats), Susanna Kisner (National Coalition Party), Petri Rinne (Centre Party), and TBC (Finns Party). The moderators will be Alexandra Aho and Ville Soininen.
The panel discussion will take place at the University of Rovaniemi in auditorium B127 at Yliopistonkatu 8 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. You can also follow the discussion live on the European Finland YouTube channel.
The EU, with its member states, is the world’s largest donor of development aid in monetary terms. How does it utilize this position – can the EU, as a giant in development cooperation, assume a larger political role to ensure sustainable development is also achieved in third countries? At the same time, we are halfway through the implementation of the Agenda 2030 goals. How can the EU accelerate the realization of the agenda when the goals are stuck due to overlapping crises? And how can the EU prepare for the post-2030 sustainable development agenda?
The event is open to all and free of charge. Please note that space is limited, so arrive early. Remember also to register and order reminders for the Facebook event from this link.
