When is the LYY office open?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LYY office, located in the D wing of the University of Lapland at Yliopistonkatu 8, is open by appointment. You can book an appointment by email or phone. Feel free to knock on the door, as we are usually here between 9:00 and 11:00 and 13:00. and 15:00!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LYY member service point at the office is open Monday through Friday at 12\u201314 on time period 17.8.\u201311.9.2026. Starting at 14.9. member service point is open Monday through Thursday at 12\u201314. Please note that we distribute student ID stickers for the academic year only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When do I need to register for the semester?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

All students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at the University of Lapland must register as either present or absent each academic year. You can only receive financial aid and have your coursework recorded in the student registry if you have registered as an active student. Students going on exchange must also register as active. Additionally, the university username is only valid for those who have registered as active or inactive.

The registration period for the 2026\u20132027 academic year is June 1\u2013September 15, 2026.
The registration period for the spring semester of 2027 is December 1, 2026\u2013January 19, 2027.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How to pay the membership fee?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Pay your membership fee when you register for the academic year at the university. You can also contact us or visit either the D-wing service desk or the LYY office to pay your membership fee.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

What if I sign up late?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

If you do not register by the deadline, you will lose your right to study. Your status in the student administration system will then be \u201cnot registered.\u201d To reinstate your right to study, you must pay a re-enrollment fee of 35 euros and submit a receipt for this payment to Student Services, for example by email to opinto@ulapland.fi or by taking it directly to their office in the E-wing of the University of Lapland.

Important! The re-enrollment fee is paid to a different account than the student union membership fee. Pay the re-enrollment fee to the University of Lapland\u2019s account:

After this, you can pay the LYY membership fee. We can send you the payment details via email at lyy@lyy.fi, or you can pay the membership fee in person at our service desk or office.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How do I report my absence?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Register as absent during the academic year registration period via the OILI registration service. If you are registered as absent, you do not have to pay the student union membership fee. You can change your absence registration to present outside the regular registration period by contacting Student Services.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How can I get a refund on my membership fee if I graduate sooner than planned?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Members who paid their membership fee before August 1 and graduated will be refunded the full membership fee upon request.
Members who paid the full academic year\u2019s membership fee during the registration period but graduated during the fall semester will be refunded the membership fee for the spring semester upon request.

Please note that applications must be received by the Student Union by September 30 for the fall semester and by January 31 for the spring semester. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be processed. Refunds are not issued retroactively; instead, the application must be submitted on time for the current academic year or term.

LYY uses Tuud<\/a>o as mobile student ID provider.  You can download the app from the app store. To access the Tuudo digital student ID, you’ll need your university credentials. More information about the student ID.<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How do I get a new semester or academic year sticker for my student ID card?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Sticker for the card can be picked up from our member service point during opening hours<\/a>. If the service point is closed, you can also pick up your semester or academic year sticker during our office hours (Mon\u2013Fri, 8 a.m.\u20134 p.m.) at our office located at Yliopistonkatu 8 (D Wing). The sticker is affixed directly to the LYY student ID card and cannot be provided separately from the card.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

My mobile student ID isn’t working. Why?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Check your student status from the Student Services<\/a>. If you have paid your membership fee and your status is \u201cactive,\u201d your card will become valid within a day or two of the status update.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Could you mail me a new academic year sticker?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

You can also have the academic year sticker mailed to you if you send us your student ID card. In order for us to return your student ID card to you, you must send both your student ID card and an additional return envelope with postage paid to the University of Lapland, Student Union of the University of Lapland, P.O. Box 122, 96101 Rovaniemi. However, LYY is not responsible for student cards lost in the mail. Please note that the card must not have an active payment feature.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

I have paid my LYY membership fee. Can I get an academic year sticker for my student ID from another student union, such as the Student Union of the University of Oulu?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

You can also pick up your academic year sticker from other student unions, with the exception of HYY. However, you must first notify us at lyy@lyy.fi. Please indicate in your message which student union you would like to pick up the sticker from. Once you have received confirmation from us, you can go pick up the sticker. By doing so, you agree that we will send the necessary information to the other student union and that you will be charged a five (5) euro processing fee. When visiting another student union\u2019s office, please check their opening hours.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Can someone else pick up the sticker for me?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

Another person may pick up your student ID sticker if they have your student ID, a power of attorney, and their own form of identification. If it is not possible to provide a power of attorney, we will need to call you to verify your identity.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

I’m a new student. When can I order my student ID card?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

The Tuudo app’s student ID serves as a mobile ID.

LYY offers its members the opportunity to obtain a physical student ID card. Physical student ID (15 \u20ac) is ordered through Kide.app<\/a><\/strong>. Log in using Haka, fill out the order form, and attach a photo. The finished card will be sent to the LYY office, where we will verify your membership and apply the academic year sticker to the card. We\u2019ll notify you via email at the address you used in the Kide.app app when the card is ready for pickup.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

The Wellness Pass<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What is the Wellness Pass, and what does it include?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

The Wellness Pass is a fitness and wellness service for university students in the Rovaniemi area, administered by LYY. It includes a variety of services, such as a gym, group exercise classes, dance classes, and discounts. You can read more about them here.<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Who is eligible to obtain the pass?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

All undergraduate students at the University of Lapland and Lapland University of Applied Sciences in the Rovaniemi area are eligible to obtain the Pass. To use the Pass, you must have the Kide.app app.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Where the pass can be bought?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

You can purchase the pass either during the university\u2019s academic year registration or through the Kide.app app.

Degree students at the University of Lapland can pay for the pass during the academic year registration. Their information will be added to the Kide.app system, through which they can activate the pass later.

The pass is used in the Kide.app, where you can also purchase a pass for yourself. Please contact the Student Union if you are unable to use the pass in the app for a valid reason.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How much does the pass cost?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

The pass costs \u20ac59 for the entire academic year and approximately \u20ac30 for either the fall or spring semester. Before the start of the pass period, you can also purchase the pass at an early bird price\u2014be sure to follow the Well-being Pass on Instagram (@hyvinvointipassi) for the latest offers!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

How does the pass work?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

The Wellness Pass is used through the Kide.app app. This means you show your pass on your smartphone to the service provider as agreed. When using the services, the Wellness Pass user is required to follow the instructions and regulations provided by the service provider.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

When is the pass valid?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

Pass services are available during the fall semester from August 16 to December 31, 2026, and during the spring semester from January 1 to May 19, 2027. The academic year pass covers both semesters. LYY reserves the right to change the dates of the pass service periods.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Is the Wellness Pass same thing as the Sport Pass?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>
\n

The Sport Pass previously offered by the Lapland University Consortium is no longer available; instead, the pass is now administered by LYY. At the same time, the pass\u2019s offerings were expanded to include services other than sports, and it was renamed the Wellness Pass. The Wellness Pass is implemented electronically and will be activated in the Kide.app app when the pass\u2019s services become available.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Does the Wellness Pass include insurance?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

The Wellness Pass does not include insurance, and LYY is not liable for any accidents. It is the cardholder\u2019s responsibility to ensure they have adequate insurance coverage.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Twice a year, LYY opens its online store through Kloffa.fi, where you can order products designed by LYY. Store opening periods will be announced separately on LYY\u2019s social media and website. Please note that products are made to order and cannot be returned. You can have the products delivered directly to your home or pick them up free of charge at the LYY service point.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can pick up the sauna key on weekdays between 8:00. and 16:00 at the LYY office at Yliopistonkatu 8. Please let us know in advance by emailing lyy@lyy.fi when you plan to pick up the key so we can be sure someone is there to assist you.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Where can I buy the sits song book?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

LYY is selling the “Yhden t\u00e4hden Laulukirja” songbook. The songbook costs \u20ac10 for LYY members and \u20ac12 for others. You can purchase the songbook with a card at the LYY service desk in Wing D during its opening hours.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Where can I get the overalls?<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

LYY is not responsible for the purchase or sale of overalls.
