The Student Union of the University of Lapland provides services to organizations, associations, and students operating within the LYY network. If you need help with your organization\u2019s activities, you can always contact the organization liaison on our board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Association training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, LYY organizes a training event for organizations and associations active within the University of Lapland. The event is called \u201cRiemupiirakka\u201d and takes place in early spring. Riemupiirakka always lasts one day. The day consists of various workshops where current issues are discussed, ideas for development are explored, and in the evening, participants enjoy good company as part of the evening program. Suggestions for topics and speakers for Riemupiirakka can be submitted to the University of Lapland Student Union. Information about Riemupiirakka is always sent out in advance via email. No \u201cpakkopulla,\u201d just Riemupiirakka!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, members of the LYY Board and experts organize other training sessions as needed on various topics, such as accessibility or educational policy reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other support LYY offers to associations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LYY supports organizations and associations operating within its district by distributing operational grants. LYY opens a call for association grant applications once a year. For more information on available grants, contact the LYY Board member responsible for organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Student Union\u2019s basic grant guidelines, a basic grant may be awarded to a registered association operating among the members of the University of Lapland Student Union, provided that the association\u2019s information in the association registry is up to date. The basic grant is awarded to support the association\u2019s core activities.<\/strong> The application period for basic grants opens every February\u2013March, and the final decision on the allocation of grants is made by the LYY Representative Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications for basic grants must be submitted in writing<\/strong> using the Student Union\u2019s basic grant application form. The application must be accompanied by the minutes of the subject-specific student organization\u2019s or association\u2019s regular meeting, an action plan, and a budget. However, do not submit original documents; instead, submit certified copies. If the student organization or association received a basic grant from the Student Union the previous year, a copy of the previous year\u2019s annual report, as approved by the regular meeting, must also be attached to the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brief explanation\u2014no more than half a page long\u2014must be attached to the basic grant application, stating the amount of grant being requested and the primary intended use of the funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also post information about your interdisciplinary events on LYY\u2019s communication channels! You can submit an event announcement<\/strong><\/a> to LYY\u2019s website. You can also send the information directly to our communications specialist (viestinta(at)lyy.fi), who will forward the message to our student organization and association mailing lists!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advocacy for Student Associations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with the subject associations, LYY advocates for the interests of the academic disciplines at the University of Lapland. You can ask the LYY Board members responsible for advocacy or the advocacy specialist for help with any issues concerning your association, such as course completion requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tableware Rental for Student Organizations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LYY aims to provide tableware to student associations to reduce unnecessary waste, particularly from single-use tableware. Here is a link to the tableware rental calendar<\/a> and the rules<\/a> regarding the use of the tableware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
