November recap
November was an important month for LYY: many important documents, like LYY’s Strategy, were prepared and released.
Information from the University
A new board for the University of Lapland for the term of office from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023 has been elected. During November, the University mapped out remote and hybrid work experiences and encouraged university students to interact with each other and university personnel remotely. In December, communality will be especially evident when we celebrate the year’s end with Kuusijuhla 2.0 live show on Wednesday, December 16, starting at 1 p.m. – remotely of course. You can also send your own video greeting to the party by 8.12. In addition to the Christmas party, the rector’s mornign coffee will also be on held on 11 December 2020 at 8.30 am!

Protection of Interests
LYY recently commented on the inadequacies recently noticed in student culture. Through its own activities, LYY has sought to reduce harassment and bullying. Especially when the LYY Interaction and Communality survey shows that students experience bullying from many different sources and worryingly often. We hope that the student will have a low threshold to contact, for example, LYY’s harassment contact persons. We’ve also gotten tips on what we could do even better. Comments from the members are valuable feedback that will be taken into account in the development of operations.

The Council of Representatives
LYY’s Council of Representatives had their last meeting of the year on 3.12. In the meeting the Council elected the Chair of the Council of Representatives, The Executive Board and the substitute for the Secretary General. Congratulations to Chair of the Executive Board Elina Kuula, and board members Jere Tapio, Niko Mäntynenä, Siiri Peuraniemi, Hanna Palosuo and Krista Perälä! As the Chair of the Council of Representatives was elected Emilia Haapalainen, as the 1st vice chair Katariina Henttonen and as the 2nd vice chair Roosa-Maria Valo. Miikka Keränen was elected as the Secretary General’s substitute.
