Student Union’s opening hours
Student Union doesn’t have customer service times anymore until next year. Until then, the meeting times can be agreed beforehand! So call or e-mail us, if needed.
Next year LYY is opening its’ customer service point on 21st of January. We are open almost every Tuesday and Thursday till 24.4. at 12pm-2pm.

LYY Board recruitment 2020
The Executive board of LYY takes care of the implementation of the decisions made by the Council of Representatives. The board members are chosen by the Council of Representatives around every November or December. The board includes the Chief of the Board and 4-8 members of the board. The Executive Board works in close cooperation with the crew of LYY in order to protect the interests of the students and to keep up the active student life of the University of Lapland. The board membership is a position of responsibility. The members decide for the roles of each member in the board every year.
You can apply to the LYY’s board by sending a application and CV by e-mail to the secretary general Heljä Kärnä, paasihteeri(at)lyy.fi, the message has to be sent with the topic “Application to LYY board 2020”. The applications has to be sent latest on 3.12. at 14:00. You can also apply to the board by coming to the meeting of Council of Representatives without a seperate application to our secretary general.

The council of representatives meeting 3.12.
The first meeting of the new council of representatives will be held on Tuesday 3th of December. On the agenda there are the election of LYY’s board for 2020 and the action plan and budget for next year.
The meeting will be held at 2pm-7pm at LS2.
Independence day’s Parade 6.12.
LYY organizes every year LYY’s torch parade on Finland’s Independence day. By means of the torch parade we will celebrate and honor the 102nd Independence Day of Finland.
We will gather and get organized in Lordi square at 3:00 pm. From Lordi square we will march towards the church of Rovaniemi. Once we’ll arrive to church, we will gather to graveyard towards soldier’s graves and honor their memory. The parade will end to graveyard.
You will only need student cap (if you have one), your own lantern if you want and joyful mood!

Sign up beforehand: LYY goes Tarina Maailmankaikkeudesta
On Thursday 5.12. Lyhty ry is taking us to see the University Theatre play called “Tarina Maailmankaikkeudesta”. During the event, you get to see the play and check out the stage and back stage after the show. The play starts at 7pm.
You can sign up beforehand to see the play, so that you’ll get 3€ discount! The signing up is open on Monday 25.11.-2.12. at the Facebook event!
The play and signing up form is in Finnish.
Independence day’s Parade 6.12.
Register yourself for the Spring semester 2.12.-16.1.
All students of the University of Lapland are required to register as an attending student (“present”) or a non-attending student (“absent”) in the OILI Service separately for each academic year. Please note that in order to be eligible for signing up for courses, earning credits and receiving a scholarship you are required to be registered as attending. Registration status as attending is also a prerequisite for accessing the university information systems. Your User ID will work only if your registration for the current academic year has been completed.
The registration period for the spring term 2020 is 2 December 2019 – 16 January 2020.

You can register to LYY’s websites your own event! Adding your event to our website is really easy and fast and at the same time everybody else can also see your event straight on LYY’s website! When you register your event, remember that they have to be open to everyone – unless you want loads of gatecrashers.

Rent LYY’s Sauna for your parties
Student Union’s Sauna is available for renting during the summertime. If you are a member of the Student Union of the University of Lapland, the renting costs you 100 euros / night. For non-members the price from Sunday to Thursday is 150 euros / night and from Friday to Saturday 200 euros / night. Booking happens via email to edunvalvonta(at)lyy.fi or by phone +358 45 138 4190.
