LYY is looking for editor-in-chief
LYY is looking for editor-in-chief for the student magazine of the University of Lapland. The magazine comes four times in a year and is made by the editor-in-chief, LYY’s graphic designer and assistants.
Unfortunately this job requires full Finnish proficiency.

LYY is looking for an adviser of organizations and communications. The job is a full-time job and includes e.g. producing events, communicating in different media platforms and taking care of our students’ well-being.

Council of representatives meeting 12.2.
Student Union of the University of Lapland’s (LYY’s) Council of Representatives meeting will be held on Wednesday 12.2. at 16pm-20pm at the University LS2. The meetings are open for every member of the Student Union. On the agenda there are this years program for the Executive board and the recruitment of the new editor-in-chief for the student paper.

Neon-sittning 12.2.
Have you always wanted to glow in the dark and wanted to dress up to bright neon colors? Doesn’t the sun yet blind your eyes? Don’t worry, we have a great opportunity in offer! Grab your brightest colored clothes and come to NEON-sitsit organized by the most luminous student organisation, LYHTY! The fastest neon people arriving at the earliest at 17:45 get to paint their faces with dazzling neon colors!

Suggest the teacher of the year latest on 15.2.
It is time to find the teacher of the year! Has there been someone, who’s been helping you with your studies? Now it is time to tell us that person!
The teacher of the year is a person, who is a good guidance for students and is sincere and fair towards them. He/she is taking care of students’ rights and that their voices will be heard in the matter of courses and attending the planning of their own education. In addition the teacher is using multiple teaching methods and is taking into account different kind of learners. This years teacher brings out his/her methods for other faculties as well.

Poronkusema is a unique team-based competition where each team carries out specific tasks on multiple checkpoints around the city center in Rovaniemi.

Student Shrove 25.2.
Like every year, also in 2020 the students of Lapland get one lecture-free day. That day is on 25.2. and it means Laskiainen for us.
The day will begin with a game of tug-of-war between the students of university of Lapland and the students of the Lapland UAS. After that will begin a tournament of snow volleyball. There is also a chance to grill some sausages over the fire, slide down the hill with a sledge or enjoy beverages from Restaurant Valdemari. After the day begins to wind down, we will move on inside to Valdemari and it’s time to find the new Karaoke Champion! With the winner declared the after party will kick off! We’ll get to enjoy some good music and company till 2:00 am at the Restaurant Valdemari.

Rent LYY’s Sauna for your parties
Student Union’s Sauna is available for renting during the summertime. If you are a member of the Student Union of the University of Lapland, the renting costs you 100 euros / night. For non-members the price from Sunday to Thursday is 150 euros / night and from Friday to Saturday 200 euros / night.
