Result of the Students' Union's election denotes a versatile Student's Parliament

20 members were elected to the Student Parliament in the Students' Union's election in University of Lapland. The new Parliament begins its two-year-long term on December 1st, 2015.

Altogether 832 votes were given in the election. 3 of the votes were disqualified. Voter turnout was 21,02 %. Turnout increased considerably this year. In 2013 turnout was 17,7 % and in 2011 it was 23,1 %.

There were 8 association that nominated candidates. Associations continuing their work in the Parliament are law student's Artikla, the student's of social sciences YTK:n Superlista, Art's student's TAO ry and politically orientated Keskusta (Center party), Kokoomus (National coalition) and left-wing alliance Punapippuri. Two new association nominated candidates this year. Vihreät, which is politically independent but represent green values as well as education's student's Lastukas.

In 2013 a new group the Finns Party did not nominate candidates this time.

The competition between the association was tight. The winner was Artikla, which increased their number of seats by third. The left-wing alliance Punapippuri lost the most seats by losing two members of parliament.The National Coalition Kokoomus and the TAO ry both lost one seat. The Center Party Keskusta got the last seat in the Parliament with only one vote difference to Kokoomus. The two newcomers Vihreät and Lastukas both were succesful. YTK:n Superlista got the same amount of seats in the Students' Parliament increasing their total amount of votes slightly.

The three candidates that got the most votes were all women. Amanda Näsi from Artikla got 41 votes. TAO Ry's candidate Emma Kähkönen got 37 votes. Third place went to Johanna Teijonmaa, whith 28 votes.

The election process went well in general. There were 3958 eligible voters. Election officials had challenges in verifying the voting rigths of the exchange students. The election committee apologises for the inconveniences and acknowledges the officials on exemplary working.
