student card

The student card is your means to prove that you're a student in Finland in all situations necessary. With the card, you can access all benefits of your own student group, such as national student deals (e.g. train and bus discounts, student-priced meals, Finnish Student Health Service). In addition, you will gain access to all ofFrank’s national and global student discounts.

How to get a student card?

First off, you need to pay the membership fee of the Student Union. You can do it at exchange student orientation or at LYY office during opening hours.

Yes but what about the card?

We strongly recommed downloading free Frank-application to your smartphone. You need 10,64Mt of free space on your phone, a working internet connection every time you use the card (there is a flashing green light indicating validity), your personal identity code from finnish officials and a clear picture of yourself (a selfie will do, you can take it while activating the app).

Please note that it will take approximately 24 hours for your personal identity code to be registered after you deliver it to the student office, so you might not be able to activate Frank-app right away.

Before activating the app change your smartphone language to English. Any other language than English/Swedish will make the activation phase appear in Finnish.

If you can't get the app activated or are in some other distress, don't hesitate to come to LYY office or contact your tutor and ask for help.

How about a plastic student card?

You can order a plastic student card online from Frank. The card costs 15,10€. To order a card you need a clear photo of yourself to upload to the system. You can pay the card with Visa, MasterCard or Finnish bank account. A card order will take approximately three weeks to process. In questions and problem situations related to card order delivery, contact your own student union’s service personnel. – All of Finland’s student discounts

A Sticker to your student card

You need to have a valid sticker on your student card. The sticker is valid for a semester or a whole academic year. You can get your sticker from the student union's office (Ahkiomaantie 23 B). To get your sticker you have to enroll through Weboodi. The sticker for whole academic year is mainly valid until the end of September and for a semester until the end of January.

What if I can't pick up my sticker from the office?

We recommend you to use Frank-app. By using this app you don't need to get the sticker. The app updates the information from Weboodi daily.

You can also send us your plastic student card by mail. Send us your student card and a stamped envelope with your address. Please remember that you should never mail a card with paying feature.

If you want to pick up your sticker from another student union (list below), you need to send us the following information: your own student number and the student union from which you want to pick up your sticker. We need to send your information to that student union.

Other student unions charge 5€ service fee for this.
