Membership fees

 

All the Finnish university students belong automatically to the Student Union of their university and they have to pay the membership fee (Law of the Universities 558/2009 46 §). Exchange students have the possibility to choose whether they want to become members of LYY or not. Every year most of the exchange students join the Student Union.
 
As soon as you pay the membership fee, you are able to order student card and get all other benefits ordered by Student Union. Membership fee also includes student health care services (YTHS).

Reimbursement of the membership fee

There is a possibility for full or partial reimbursement of the membeship fee, if certain requirements are met.

If one has paid the membership fee for the academic year 2015-2016 but graduates before the 1.8.2015 the membership fee will be reimbursemented by application.

If one has paid the membership fee for the whole academic year and graduates at the autumn semester the membership fee for the spring semester will be reimbursemented by application.

If one pays the membership fee, but changes the ones status to non-attending during the registeration period the membership fee will be reimbursemented by application.

If one is a member in multiple Student Unions in Finland one can have reimbursement of the student health care fee of the FSHS. In this case the reimbursement must applied from the last Student Union one has paid ones membership fee.

 

How to apply:

Print and fill out the application for reimbursement. Deliver the application with attachments to the university's student services.

If the reimbursement is applied for health care fee receipts from fees to the both student unions must be included. If reimbursement is applied because of graduation or changing status to not-attending the student card must be included in the application.

For autumn semester the application has to be delivered to Student Services by 30.9. Deadline for spring semester is 31.1.
